Walks in Ouchy along Lake Geneva

Walks in Ouchy along Lake Geneva

Place du port, Ouchy nr,
Geneva 1006

Locals spend a lot of time along Lake Geneva, often just stopping by a café or restaurant in the elegant lakeside port of Ouchy, a former fishing village, admiring the views, or swimming, sailing, biking, hiking, roller skating, or skateboarding along the quai. For a lovely lakeside walk, go east along the quai, and follow the trail to the towns of Pully, a site inhabited since the Roman era, and Lutry , a medieval market town where Bronze Age menhirs were found in 1984. Lovely mansions, garden and beaches line the path. In fact you can walk 15 km. of paths between Lutry and Morges, west of Ouchy. Return to Geneva by
boat or train.

Lausanne is a great city for walking. Inside the town itself look for the Vuachère trail, which links the lake at the mouth of the Vuachere river to the hills above town. Follow the trail, marked by fox footprints. Lausanne’s main tourist office is in Ouchy, 2 avenue de Rhodanie, +41 21 613 73 73; check there for maps, information and advice.
