Telepherique Du Saleve (Cable Car)
Relax with a day in the mountains while still staying overnight in Geneva. Visit Mont Saleve, located in Etrembieres, just southeast of Geneva in the French region of Haute-Savoie. Take the #8 bus and get off at the French border, the end of the line at Veyrier-Douane (a 20 minute ride.) After exiting the bus, walk across the French border -- a short 5 minute walk to the “telepherique du saleve” (cable car of the Saleve Mountain.) The cable car runs every 15 minutes, and climbs 1097 m (almost 3,600 feet)
At the top, enjoy the views of Geneva, Lac Leman, and the French Alps, or join one of the many activities. The foot paths offer great views. Riders can bring their bikes on the cable car at no additional charge; hikers and bikers have a choice of paths to follow down the mountain. Hesitant? Take a guided hike, visit the botanical garden, go mushroom hunting or take off with a paragliding lesson. A restaurant at the top serves seasonal, organic produce, with specialties from Geneva and Savoie; a mountain cabin offers picnic lunches and drinks.
