Learn about the Large Hadron Collider at the world’s most famous physics lab and impress your pals with your new-found knowledge. No booking is needed to visit the permanent Universe of Particles and Microcosm exhibitions, which bamboozle with talk of cosmic rays and quarks, but all guided tours of CERN’s experimental areas last three hours, are led by expert scientists, and must be booked in advance. Visitors learn about the research taking place on site as well and how to turn themselves into anti-matter in the Atlas Visitor Centre.
