After 121 Olympic teams marched joyously through the Marathon Gates in 1972, after political reality and old hatreds left 11 Israeli athletes dead at those same Summer Games, the Olympic Stadium still manages to inspire. Despite a tragic past, the park and stadium still host a wide range of social, religious and political events that foster communication. In many ways it’s the living, breathing heart of Munich; get in the spirit by renting an MP3 player with an English-language guided historical tour at the information pavilion. If vertigo is not part of your vocabulary, climb the roof and look over Munich’s spectacular historic skyline. On a clear day, the sunny, snow-capped Alps will smile back.

Located three miles from downtown Munich. Take the Underground U3 or Tram line 21 to Olympic Park.
Olympic Tower is open from 9a.m to 12 p.m. daily.Olympic stadium hours are given below.
