Hong Kong, China
The charming Peak Tram, running since 1888, is the fun way to reach The Peak. Bump and grind past skyscrapers clinging to the almost perpendicular hillside. Once at the top, make short work of the shops in Peak Tower and gaze down on Central from the Sky Terrace.
To enjoy the view in quiet surroundings, turn right out of the Tower to Harlech Road, which loops around the top of The Peak and offers views across Kowloon and the Outlying Islands. HK has its share of air pollution, so choose a clear day before scooting up there.
