Avenue of the Stars and A Symphony of Lights Show
Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Relatively new to the streets of Kowloon, The Avenue of Stars is a cheesy tribute to the great names of Hong Kong cinema, honouring such greats as kung fu action hero Bruce Lee – his life-size statue dominates the promenade overlooking Victoria Harbour with the glorious backdrop of the lights of night-time Hong Kong flickering beguilingly at dusk. Commemorative plaques, film-star handprints, and movie memorabilia trace more than a century of the Hollywood of the East’s rise to importance on the international film stage. Street performers, exhibitions, Chinese opera, and light shows add to the razzle-dazzle of the walkway along Wan Chai’s promenade, a few steps away from the Star Ferry terminal at Harbour City. But the star attraction here kicks off at 8pm each night; A Symphony of Lights laser show turns Kowloon and Hong Kong into performance art as a multimedia laser light show dazzles – it’s 15 minutes of undiluted amazement as skyscrapers send laser beams of ever-changing colors and patterns soaring to music through the night. Look back at the spectacle in Hong Kong from Kowloon’s Avenue of Stars or from the Star Ferry plying across Victoria Harbour. Magical and unmissable. Both attractions are free.
